Sky Digital question

We have sky digital in the house and as with all sky digital there is a phone line needed for the pay per view and stuff like that,

But my ma wants to get rid of the phone because we dont use it and the line rental is about 40 euro a month and we never use it, and we dont order anything on pay per view or anything,,

does anyone know if it's possible to have sky and disconnect the phone line. if i remove the phone line from the sky box will the stations still work,,

as far as i know there is no problem doing this i have just ordered sky digital and dont have a land line and they said they will still be able to install it just cant use the sky active

The contract states that the phone line needs to be connected for 12 months - after that you own the equipment.

You really only need to phone line if you are ordering PPV stuff or any of the on-line interactive features etc (eg betting)

I have had sky for 3/4 years now. I never have the phone connected. You can order PPV items by dialing the number directly from a mobile/landline instead of using the dial-up via the sky dish.
You can also watch sky active ( ie interactive football) without the line connected.

40 euro a month?? ever think of checking your bill for possible mistakes, like for example wrong rental charges?
Eircom should only charge 24 euro and a few cent per month, even if you use a different provider for your phone calls....
