    Hi there.

I was wondering where I could apply for an online course which I can do from home. I work shifts and cannot commit to complete a course in FAS at a set time unfortunately. :(

I have emailed FAS for a list (if any) of online courses and I am currently waiting for a reply. The areas I am most interested in are PC Maintenance/IT/Software and I would love to persue an online course that I can complete at a time of day that suits me.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great :D

    Thanks in advance.

Fas have their net college which is quite good.

    www.fas-netcollege.com

Its really cheap compared to what you would pay in some IT colleges. The CompTIA a+ Computer Technician Course through FAS is e120. This course is divided into two Hardware and Operating Systems and it gives you a good insight into the inside and workings of a computer. You get (i think) 6 months to do the course online and you can do it at whatever time and on any computer. have a look at the site as there are loads of courses you can do.

    Thanks for the info.

For some reason I thought you could only do those courses in a FAS centre?? How does it work when you do it from home? Do they give you access to an online site once you pay?

/Edit: Ah, I got confirmation that its fully online. Silly me.

Yeah - once you pay the fee they send you a user name and password. You log in on the fas-netcollege site and work away! You dont need to be at a FAS training centre to use it. The course itself is taught through animations (like powerpoint but interactive and with pictures of the commputer parts) and it gives you a test after every module.

I have a solid understanding of PC architecture. I would like to do this course to get a cert at the end to prove that i know this stuff. I dont know everything, Im not a genius, :p but I have built pc's in the past from scratch. Diagnosing and troubleshooting sounds interesting.

    Thanks.

    hi folks

anyone knows some recogniseable online course to get a degree?

I've seen many of them but also many are just rubbish (get a degree in 7 days blah blah). I'm interested in some with normal duration like 2, 3 yrs ending with B.sc. for example, I know they exist but it's hard to know which is actually worth of money

there was a lot of hype about e-studies the other time

Think you'd be better to start a new thread with your query - this thread is a year old and not on the same topic. Have you tried the Open University? Good luck anyway.

You will have to go to a certified test centre and do the exam though, the FAS stuff will teach you all you need to know.

Dunno about the online bit, but FAS does CompTIA A+ course (which centers on PC Maintenance), so that may be worth looking into.
