    OS X has built in SAMBA support, so anything with that is fine.

    if you have OS 9 on any machines, youll need either software called dave (allows OS 9 to use SAMBA) or appletalk on the "server"

    only bummer with the argosy is lack of GB ethernet. I cant imagine using 100Mb anymore.

    That's comforting. Looks like Argosy is the only company AFAIK which makes HDD enclosures with ethernet ports.

    My wireless router is WiFi-G, so the throughput is capped at a theoretical max of 54Mbps. I don't plan to put network cables in the house. HomePlug is a nice idea though.

    yea, only prob is that 54Mb\s is really 11 in true transfer if you are usuing any encrytion. Even without, it still a good bit shy of 55Mb\s. Not to mention that the bandwith is shared with all the clients.

    I remember seeing a Maxtor with an ethernet port at CeBit last year. Should be well into production now!
