I've got my 1GB :D carried over by a friend of mine who visited us in March. Purchased at www.macsales.com . You'll see lots of options for MacMini upgrades.

Also, people have tried www.shop4memory.com .Follow the links for the memory configurator. Just beware of customs when the RAMs come in.

Contrary to what some people may tell you, a DDR400 RAM may be cheaper than a DDR333 although the latter is rated slower.

    Good luck!

    Here's the detailed stuff:

    PC2700 DDR 333MHz CL 2 UNBUFFERED NON-ECC 184 Pin DIMM

    PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL=3 UNBUFFERED NON-ECC 184 pin DIMM

Either will work, just go for the cheapest.

    Bog standard PC2700 is fine

with ethe iMac, you can use a standard HD alright. But 7200RPM drives can cause the monitor's transformer to fail, and they are a pain in the A$$ to replace.

try to get a 5400 RPM drive if you can.

mini's use a laptop 9mm, 2.5', 4200 rpm harddrive ... i think 100 gig is as big as you can go but only to 5400rpm (still quite slow) or 7200 rpm up to 60 gig.. (from komplett 140 euro).

TBH i'd go for the speed over quantity .. it made a huge diff to my boot times and the likes of video playing / editing on my Ibook (almost the same config as a mini) - only diff is the mini is easier to upgrade :p

Quite different machines methinks .. the mini has no monitor transformer to fry

... was the the old or the new imac BTW.. was thinking of getting a new one and upping the HDD to 7200 or 10,000 rpm... this makes me rethink a little

Also 7200rpm drive in the ibook anyhow runs cooler then the old 4200 rpm .. somthing to do with it not spinning for so long to access the info .. so I guess more cooling down time between reads/writes.. i was worried originally about heat..but after using it for hours on end in hot sweaty nightlubs im happy that its happy..

oh and you can always get external case for the existing drive for about 50 quid and format it as Fat32 so you can tranfer files with your mates with windows machines.

you can get the mini take apart guide from here if you wanna upgrade it yourself (21 meg file fully illustrated..nice)

CD drive is a slotloading laptop drive could upgrade that too ...while your in there .. hehe..
