Soju Shortage. T.T

I have had numerous scandalous moments involving soju at Alilang on Parnell Street. Not technically an off-license but...

Also, if you go to NYC you can always pick it up there or ask someone to do it for you. Not a great help but a suggestion.

I'll be bringing some back from Korea in a few months.

Waitress in Arilang pissed me off so I won't be eating there for a while. I'm half tempted to send a letter to her boss.

I should point out that I have eaten there loads of times (even brought my in-laws there when they came over from Korea). So I doubt it is reflective of the people there the one person.

We sat down, told the first waitress we wanted BBQ. Second waitress comes while the wife is in the toilet. I start listing off what I want, little things first and she makes a face like she is constipated everytime I ask for something. So after the third item I asked for one plate of meat (normally get two but the table is small).

She gets stroppy and says I can't order one, I have to order two. First time I heard that but claims it is managers rules. I point out I will be ordering two but bring one for the moment, she says I have to order two. wtf.. so I say fine I order two but bring one first.

Then I ask for soju. She says no Soju. Wife is back at this stage and points to another table that looks like they have soju bottles and points to them. The girl starts going on about how its not soju but chinese alcohol, I say "Rice wine?" and she says "Yes but you won't like its for chinese".. at that point I was thinking "Well **** you" and we got up and left. As we were leaving I notice one of the chinese tables only has one plate of meat between the two of them as well.

hobbes i expected you to have remarked or gave a warning about this. you know i like korea and koreans and everything about korea as i have said here before(not sure if you remember me asking lots of info about learning korean), but that remark was uncalled for. my girlfriend of many years is chinese and alot of my friends are chinese. i cant believe you let that slide and didnt say anything. it was pure racist. it may have been a sly joke but it was still racist. it would be hypocritical for me to say i have lost respect for koreans as a whole because it would also be singling out a race but i sure wont look at them in the same light as before.

i cant say anything else except that this guy is a huge fooking hypocrite, i mean to say a comment like this and have actually argued a post like in the link i have provided. talk about two faced. :mad: :mad: :mad:

Appears Hanyang Supermarket got all sorted out with customs. Thier fridge is full of soju now. Got 10 bottles.
