The Create-An-Acronym Challenge!

    Okay, so BOP (Blonde, Orange, Pink) is the acronym we use to describe the type of girl that is frequently seen around the Arts block; the type of girl that wears lots of makeup and has blonde hair, and usually has a D4 accent and the matching attitude. She likes to talk about fashion and boys, and uses the words "loike", "ohmygod", "totally" and "roysh" quite often.

    BOP is a nice, snappy catch-all term. You say BOP, it sums up more than the image of blonde hair, orange skin and pink clothes - it's a type of person too.

    But what about the men? There's no snappy acronym to describe the goys that walk around campus with blonde-tipped mohawks, with rugby shirts (with collars up) and flares with trendy shoes; the type of guy that likes rugger and will probably go on to run Daddy's business..

    So, how's about we create one? Some astute person had to come up with "BOP" for the ladies, I'm sure it can be done again for the guys. And if it's catchy enough, it'll enter into everyday vocabulary (like the word "quiz", which was apparently invented by a Trinity student).

    So, ladies and gentlemen, you may begin..

    My understanding is it's to be applied to male BOPs.

    Here's a lame attempt off the top of my head:

    HURBs

    H= highlighted hair
    U= upstanding collar
    R= rugby shirt
    B= boat shoes (or 'D' for dubarrys...)

    Yes, exactly!!! That's really good actually, it sums them up perfectly..Let's see if anyone can improve on it though. Oh, and I edited the post to describe it a bit better (it sounded alright when I typed it, but on re-reading, it was confusing).

    A word instead of Bop, eh? How about ORC?

    O= Orange
    R= Rendered
    C= Clown

    Think of the LOTR references! Some of them are good looking so when you're out on the pull you can tell your friends in the words of Aragorn, "Let's hunt some ORC"!

    BOC? What an odd name for an umpa-lumpa!

    How about:

    Brunnette
    Arragont
    Babe
    Exotic

    Babe

    BOP is infinitely catchier than oompa-loompa!

    And, we're talking about MALE bops here.

    Bit of a mouthful though, shame..

    HURBS sums it up, but it's not quite catchy enough. Mmbops is catchy, but doesn't sum it up..

    Come on lads, we can DO this!

    MOPs

    Male, Overly Posh

    Or something like that. I had peroxide in there, but I couldn't think of a good O. I think BOPs and MOPs would go well together though.

    Thing is, some of those BOPs and mmmbops/hurbs/whatever aren't actually all that posh - it's the wannabeism about them that makes them such an amusing species.

    It was more of a filler word then anything else.
