Would it be that difficult for the banks to check if you have a DD setup before they send you the envelope etc to pay your visa bill?
    Such a waste.

Why do pedestrians insist on walking in bike lanes? Do they not notice that the ground is red all of a sudden?

Why do cars not get ticketed for parking on bike lanes?

Why did we replace traffic lights with roundabouts only to put lights on them?
Especially pedestrian lights, IF we need them then they should all go red at the same time.

    Shup you hippy cyclist.....

    Go have a wash ;)

Don't you want to know how much your bill is? Or are you so rich that you don't care.

Is it so difficult for you to go around the people in your cycle lanes, maybe they're all colour blind.

Cars do get ticketed for parking in bike lanes.... maybe those people are just lucky.

    To improve traffic flow.

    Stop moaning.

Yeah, but all I need for that is a statement, not the return envelope and payment form.

Well I feel that the picture of a bike might give it away...

Yes, so to improve flow we stick lights on them...

Personally, I wish I didn't have to have any dealings with any bank at all. If I could do it all through the credit union, I would. They're far more efficient, in my experience.

Pedestrians walk in cycle lanes for the same reason that cyclists cycle on the road, beside the cycle lanes, buses drive in all-other-traffic lanes, all-other-traffic drives in bus lanes etc etc. There will always be those in Ireland who think that "All these markings on the street apply to other people". Not that I can say with confidence that it's restricted to the Irish psyche, but from what I've seen driving around Europe, there's far more respect for other people's road space. Except Spain and Italy. They just drive on anything that's flat over there. ;)

Cars don't get ticketed on advisory bike lanes. They also don't get ticketed where the Gardai are away catching the real criminals. :D

Signal controlled roundabouts. How very Irish. Somebody told me once it was to do with budgets. Apparently, it all started when someone in Environment wanted to get the same budget the following year, but wound up with a huge surplus at the end of the current year. So, they blew all the surplus cash on installing traffic lights at every major roundabout. Budget secured. Of course, that could all be an urban myth, but who knows what the little gits would attempt to get away with these days. They'll be sticking tolls on existing roads next......wait a minute!!

I never get an envelope with my credit card statement (Mastercard) and I don't have a DD set up. I pay online.

Maybe its just them visa people who are stupid so...

    Ever try ringing them?

I have lots of friends, why would I want to ring the bank to chat?

They already know that I pay by DD, what else do they need? A decree from Evil Cardinal Ratzinger?

Maybe it'd be too much hardship for them to check each individual requirement before sending out the credit card statements for probably thousands of people. Besides, just because you have a DD set up doesn't mean you don't need the payment form. What if the DD is for lower than the full statement amount, what if you have no money in your account and the DD is rejected, what if you cancel the DD with you bank without informing the CC company, what if you want to pay the bill before the DD.

There are many reasons to have them, the true reason is probably that it's a mass billing operation and they cannot customise it for individual needs.
Why do pedestrians insist on walking in bike lanes? Do they not notice that the ground is red all of a sudden?
Why do some cyclists cycle on the footpath?
Why do cars not get ticketed for parking on bike lanes?
Because the Gardai and traffic inspectors aren't omni-present and sometime people get away with it.
Why did we replace traffic lights with roundabouts only to put lights on them?
Can you imagine the Red Cow roundabout without traffic lights on it? The cars coming down the Naas road wouldn't slow down, the cars coming off the M50 wouldn't slow down and you'd have a big pile of crashed cars where once there was a, eh, big pile of non-crashed cars.

I can think of a few roundabouts that could do with traffic lights on them.
Especially pedestrian lights, IF we need them then they should all go red at the same time.
Pedestrian lights on the exit of a roundabout are quite annoying I'll give you that.

Surely if they need to be signal controlled then they are junctions and NOT roundabouts?

Not only that but they are dangerous, they cause tailbacks on the roundabouts that oncoming drivers dont anticipate and plough into. Same with all lights on roundabouts. In my opinion its an either/or situation. A filter left on red solution would achieve the same results without the consternation.

ever get a cheque from a credit union? next time look at it closely and see what bank it is drawn on.

As credit unions are not part of the clearing system they all have their accounts with one of the clearing banks (AIB, BOI, UB, NIB, PTSB)

I know, I know. But that's the CU dealing with the bank, not me. :p

The envelope is for if you want to pay your bill before the direct debit happens, there is nothing worse than going to the bank machine when you need money only to discover some ****er has cleared out your last few bob with a direct debit.
Why do pedestrians insist on walking in bike lanes? Do they not notice that the ground is red all of a sudden?

Why do cyclists use footpaths when there are cycle lanes present.
Why do cars not get ticketed for parking on bike lanes?

isnt there a number you can call to report illegal parking, control plus or something?
Why did we replace traffic lights with roundabouts only to put lights on them?

have you ever tried to cross a roundabout as a pedestrian?

if a bill comes that is bigger than expected its handy to pay off some of it the minute it comes in the door, rather than have them direct debet the contents of my account.

although insulting someone is probably a better contribution to make on the boards nowadays.

No I havent, havent tried crossing a runway or the M50 either for that matter.
A roundabout is not designed for a pedestrian to cross.
Cross the road a safe distance from the roundabout, deal with one flow of traffic at a time.

The whole purpose of roundabouts is to do away with dangerous junctions and traffic lights. A lot of people skip red lights even at junctions which leads to nasty side collision accidents. Everyone moves in the same direction on a roundabout so you should never get a side collision. It keeps the traffic moving and if people yield like they are supposed to it's a far superior system. Roundabouts need to be big for it to work properly though. The amount of crappy tiny roundabouts in Ireland is unreal. I can understand having lights at these ones but anywhere else is a joke.

Under the road traffic act, it is perfectly legal for a pedestrian to walk on a cycle path. It is perfectly legal for cars to drive on a cycle path, and prob park (not sure). But it is against the law for a cyclist to cycle on a footpath. Who's getting screwed over???

Motorists!! This is the only country in europe that if a pedestrian walks out under a car than the pedestrian can sue the driver, what the hell is with that
