    You gotta' love 'em.

Yup I love em, but they have to be a really nice pair.
Modern and slick. My girlfriend got me a pair of oakley
for my birthday, VERY expensive but I love em :)

I love sun glasses - I collect them the way some women collect handbags/shoes! If I see a pair I like I'll buy them, never care about the price though, I have pairs that cost loads, and other pairs I got as cheap as €2!

Oakleys are great. Have a pair since '99 now - still in great nick.
Leave them in the car for driving, also take them boarding and sometimes cycling, have a pair of Hot Buttered for cycling to work.
    edit:
wouldn't trust a cheap pair-they're supposed to keep UV out - not sure the cheap ones do that - may end up wrecking your eyes.

If they are made by oakley then yes i love sunglasses.
bought 2 of the same pair last year cause the first ones got mangled but it was my own fault.

Yes, but I'd never wear a pair as they don't suit me.

I've to go looking for sun glasses. I've been told to go for polarized ones or something to that effect. I'm finding it hard to come across them. People/shops appear to only sell ones that look well over functioning well. Surely I can get sun glasses that look well and function well and not for a huge sum of money.

I am only a novice in this field so if ye guru's could plese give me some tips on what I should look for it'd be great :)

i love big huge ones... dirt cheap ones especially.... my favourites i got from a dodgy looking guy in venice who knocked down the price because i'm irish.... i would some day like to own the huge square ones, particularly by dior or chanel, made popular by nicole richie on the simple life

Theres a sunglasses shop in St.Stephens Green shopping centre. Its primarily designer (€80+) makes and there aren't alot of the aviator/police style glasses that you're looking for. They have Aviators in the upstairs men's section of pennys on O'connel street (€1-3, fairly cheap but they do the job). River Island have sunglasses for about €20. There is another palace across the road called Jack Johnes which have nice smoke mirrored Aviators and black mirrored aviators for about €17. They're good quality glasses aswell. The other option is to buy online.

An optician will sell you a decent pair with UVA and UVB and so on.

I wear Maui Jims, current pair cost about 200 euro and I've a new pair on order that will cost 140 odd.
    They're well worth it imo.

Thanks deRanged but I have absolutely no intensions of paying that much for a pair of sun glasses. I was thinking more in the lines of < €50. Am I expecting too much for that price?

Not at all - you'll get a perfectly good pair of sunglasses for that. (probably for 20-30 euro).
I'd still say to try an opticians though - they'll be able to explain
    about UVA and so on.

I like sunglasses to a degree where I went and spent €150 on DKNY ones last weekend. They are one of the few accessories guys can get away with - might as well make them memorable.

I like sunglasses. I picked up a pair of Polaroids in Next the other day. Essential for driving. Having said that though, I won't pay more than 20euro on a pair. Why? I'll lose or break them.

Last pair I had, I left on the cistern of a toilet in Germany, and the pair before that, I sat on.

I have to say I have a great collection of sun glasses. My mum lives in Milan and everytime I go over I pick up a new pair.
I have a great pair of dolce & gabbana's that I got this Christmas, very Jackie O!

Ray-Bans Wayfarers are the coolest sunglasses ever, they're in every 80's video and film. I absolutely hate oakley sunglasses they're the ugliest things.
In terms of sunglasses on women, those huge white Christian Dior ones look the business

wayfarers are the absolute shizzle. absolute. shizzle. mainly because of don henley's boys of summer.

I bought a great pair on ebay for less than a tenner including postage. We should start a revival. 2005 could be the summer of wayfarers.

Price doesnt affect the quality of sunglasses, as long as there UV400 they will protect your eyes. :)

I beg to differ. Get yourself a decent pair and compare them to a cheap pair and tell me there's no difference.

Another thing I meant to ask...

Can one really trust those stickers that are put on sun glasses on stands?

I had a really nice pair of Ray-Bans until I left them in a careful spot while rock climbing one day. Came across some loose rock and thought I better get rid of it in case it might injure anyone so threw it off the route out of the way. And as luck would have it I threw it right where I had forgotten I left my sunnys. On the hunt for a new pair but I don't want to get ripped off here. Does anyone know any place good online? I don't want to try ebay as there's probably tons of fakes on there and you can't trust their feedback system anyway.
