    That whole subject. It's a sham. So if I don't write a letter in a clear and understandable style the reader is not going to understand the letter I wrote? If it's messy and long-winded the reader is not going to be impressed? Or non-verbal communication, why does that need to be studied? Body language is important? Eye-contact? If I look bored and disinterested I'm going to look bored and disinterested? These things had never occured to me before (this is sarcasm).

    The whole racket should be shut down. It's just common sense!

    i agree with the OP communications is a joke of a class in collage and nobody bothers going to it, its all common sense

    Uhh....a large part of my old college course (Journalism) involved the study of Communications in various guises (semiotics and all that jazz). I have to say I found a fair bit of it rather interesting. There was also a fair bit of **** though.
