Anyone got any idea how much it'd cost to replace a glass top on a coffee table? My beer mug accidentally took a dive through the top of the one in our house :(

Depends on size really... a small table might only set you back ~E80 i believe. Good work though, isn't it a most spectacular sight?! :D

Sorry, a description might have helped. It's an oval coffee table about two feet wide in the middle and four feet long at it's longest. So I reckon the glass is gonna have to be custom cut.

Anyone had to get something similar done recently?

Ah there ya go, the cut will probably nearly double that price!

EDIT: Ok maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but you can expect maybe E120...

Bummer... sounds like a custom cut alright.
Had hoped it was just a straight forward square cut.
Go to the "Glass" section in the Golden pages - seems to be a lot of services to provide for windows and table tops there.
    Hope it's not too expensive.

Yeah, there's a place down the road that do it but they don't open on Sundays so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get a quote :(

just get a few rolls of cling-film until then.....

If its a big place, then they may well have standard shapes and sizes available in store. (which could include a standard oval 2'X4')

You should also check if it is hardened glass or if it needs to be thicker than a standard pane. Phone around for a quote or hit the interweb in the interim and see what online sites exist......

I don't reckon it will be very expensive.........

Had a similar problem a while back.
Dropped a salt cellar on a glass tabletop and it shattered.
I tried to solve it myself first of all, by getting a sheet of glass and cutting it myself- but there were sharp edges on the glass, so it wasn't going to work.
Eventually I bit the bullet and got the glassier in Celbridge to cut me a piece.
It was IR40 at the time (about 20 inches across by 40 inches long).
The cutting and edging were the costly bit, the glass itself costs next to nothing (unless you're going for tinted/treated glass or something unusual).

What colour / tint may be important. Make sure it's the appropriate glass safety wise and the edges are polished properly (stops you cutting yourself and reduces the number of edges to set up a crack on).
