anyone able to help with a minor dilemma

my friend's brother is making his communion today, and they're having a big party thing for it, marquee, bouncy castle - even a keg (obviously not for anyone who's just made their communion) - so she invited me and a few others round (free beer and food :-D) but....

do i have to give the young fella who made his communion any money????

Communions are over rated and lost most of their true meaning, I think you should go back to his roots and give him a pair of rosary beads which will be much cheaper on your pocket than giving him 10 or 20 euro.

I'd give him at least 5 quid. You're going around to the house for free beer after all.

I've you're going to indoctrinate a child into a religion while they are still too young to make the choice themselves, then you should at least give them a few bob so they can enjoy the day.

Just hand him 15 quid, its a good compromise, and its more then generous for someone whos not family.

They'll all appreciate you for it, too. :)

The reason people give the kids money is because they are too young to realise what exactly they are doing. For confirmation, more so. what 12 year old kid will chose not to confirm his religious beliefs, if €200+ is up for grabs?

That said, give the lad a tenner. Sure, that'll probably be more than what some of his relations give him.

I say mug the little b*llix ;), some kids make over a grand on thier Confirmation if they have enough reletives
