Not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway.

I have a friend whos interested in moving to Ireland from Canada for good. Shes done a bit of research and the only option she could find was a 3 month tourist visa or a working holiday visa that lets you stay for up to a year.

Does anybody know what it would take to get a permanent work visa or can you point me in the right direction to any information.

    Thanks

(PS Mods feel free to move this to somewhere else if you think it would be more appropriate)

if you were really her friend you'd tell her that thats a big mistake.

  • Yeah don't let her do it!! Seriously, what would possess you?? Canada is such a nice place to live.

I 'third' the above motion! :D

Seriously moving here from Canada of all places would be a bloody awful idea.

I'd love to know the motivation behind it, if there's a relationship involved at all then I'd heartily recommend the Irish partner move to Canada.

Truely great country and a lovely people (unlike Ireland which has become overrun with materialistic selfish scum, celtic tiger thank you. )

I'm outta here myself soon as I can organise it.

Shes checked on ancestry and even though she knows she had Irish ancestors she doesnt think she can prove it.

She has alot of reasons for wanting to move here, needless to say shes not happy where she is and wants to get out of there and start over. She has alot of friends and some family here (cousins and that, so no help on ancestry there) so its a good place to at least look into.

    hi Squall,

She will have to show that someone will someone will be funding her stay and not "being a burden on the state", like if she has a bank account here or someone to say they would look after her or something. The best place to go is the local immigration officer in your local garda district, tell them your situation. They will help you out :) best of luck to your friend.
