Total, noobie question, whats the best way to recieve free view in Ireland? And is there a set top box that will work with both the current UK system and the proposed Irish system??

Reception of British Freeview is apparently only available in the republic close to the border and on the east coast (with a good view east).

It's probably early days to know too much about the Irish digital terrestrial system - I'd wait a while before buying anything.
