Just coming up to my 10th year after leaving school next year. Not sure if i want to go to the school reunion. I'm still a student in uni and it would be a terrible shame to be surrounded by all my fellow graduates and see them all successfull and wealthy! Has anyone been to their school reunion yet? Any interesting/funny stories? Would you recommend going?

You have a ten year one ? always thought they were 25 years etc..

I can honestly say I hated school and most of the idiots in it, so that's a NO from me.

I thought they only did that in America.

only go if your friends are going- moral supportand seating strategy if there's a meal and beware of others ability to boast.
If you get on with the organiser, suss out who's going before u commit to going.
Of course they could exaggerate and say 'Eveybody's coming' or other vagueness if tickets aren't selling!!

I wouldn't miss mine for the world! Still three years to go until we have one but I cant see myself missing it. A chance to laugh at people whom the most exciting story they have to tell is that the water cooler once broke down in their office.

Reunions are only for people who want to show themselves off and have a giggle at the people who have not done well.

Don't stress about it. If you really want to impress them then rent a ridiculously expensive car to drive to it, hire a model to accompany you to it and wear an expensive looking, well tailored suit. When people ask you what you do be very vague, like "import/export" or "trading". Also get your companion to mention in conversation to the class gossip about how ye're leaving in the morning to go to your yacht in Monaco.

Personally I coudn't give a rat's ass what any of them think of me but will go if the chance arises.

i went to my college reunion last year, i'm only gone from there since 2001 but the reunion was for 1995-99, i started in 98. it was the best crack, they had big generator playing, and the same dj that used to play in one of the popular bars every thur nite, it was great to see him again, and he still remmebered what songs i always requested. i ened up being with a guy who i had a MAJOR crush on, turned out he wasnt that great, but all in all it was definatly a brill nite, meeting all the people i used to know so well, got great pics too.

Like above, I aint even goin to my debs! Just not a fan of most of my school, pretentious gits for the most part! Reunion? Doubt it unless i'm filthy rich, whereby I turn up to gloat! :D

....gloating isn't really my style actually... hmmm.... think maybe i'll just not go!

I'd go to mine, only the only people I liked in school are now either dead, retired (teachers) or living outside of Ireland. The rest of the people in my year no doubt wouldn't have changed a bit.... feck that.

but I would go when I hear about it. I keep meeting people from my school randomly in dublin....

Mad, I just got an invite to my 10 year college grad-reunion...personally I could not be bothered, I loved some of the colleges I went to but not this one...may go to another Trinity Ball though next year as I love going to an all night concert in a ball gown...

Makes me think of Gross Point Blank which is one of the best movies about school reunions and the song 74-75 by the Connels...

Are you sure there will be one? I remeber my mum going to her's alright, so I suppose that they do have them here. But I get the impression that they are usually organised by one of the past pupils from that reunion year, rather than the school. So if none of your old classmates are bothered to organise it, there may not be one.

You could be worrying over nothing.

If it's going to happen, mine will be next year. I'd probably go if it was convenient but as I should be living in the UK I doubt it.

If you are worried what your ex-classmates are up to you could check it out on Friends Reunited. Although very few people our age post on it, we're obviously not feeling nostalgic enough yet.

The best reason to go would be if you have any old friends that you"ve lost touch with, who you would like to get to know again. Other than that it's really just about gloating.

Or being so insecure that you think if you don't go they will all talk behind your back! :D

I'd go if only to laugh at the people less successful than me...

(of course second year in college isn't too successful... but all going well I'll arrive on the rocket scooter I plan on inventing...)

It'd be nice to see where everyone is now, but I reckon it'd be more like 25 year ones than 10 year ones. I dont think people would of changed that much, personally. Though Id go for a píss up alright, I mean who wouldn't?

My 10 year reunion was sometime last year but I was not notified, though I wouldnt have gone anyway. I didnt care for highschool or anyone in it and always said I'd never go to one of those things.
hell, I busted ass and took my junior and senior year together to graduate a year early to get away from the damn place, cant see going back to re hash the nightmares. ;)

The nearest thing I ever had to a school re-union was when I got a three month stretch in the Joy.... Ah! The delights of growing up in the inner-city!!

Allegedly there was one for my school last year, four years after leaving. I never heard about it. Nobody turned up. I'm pretty sure those two things are not mutuall exclusive.

I'd probably go, just to see some old mates again and see which rugby players are still working in the local Spar.

ive only been out of school two years and most of the lads there either have kids or criminal records, by ten years there will definetely be a couple of assains!!

would it not be the case that you go to the reunion expecting to have a laugh with your old mates (and a laugh at all the old spas) and what you would happen is:
the girls you used to fancy are all fat now,
the people you used to hang out with are not interested in your trip to australia or your college-month-long pissups and only want to talk about their kids. how little jimmy is starting school in september and little mary is making her communion next year.
you end up realising that you have nothing in common with these people anymore.

reunions are a waste of time. if you were interested in hanging out with the people you went to school with you'd be hanging out with them now. if you lost contact with them it was for a reason....

I went to mine last year.

Was good to see some of the auld faces.
Alot of peeps had changed , couldnt' beileve some of the guys trying to give
a m8 of mine a hard time being gay, then it came up they where on the scratcher ( Nothing wrong with that mind you) but the Gay m8 works for the soical serivces .. they all shut up when the found that out :D

But over all , it was a blast .. even if some light fingered b0ll0x stole my Schumi lighter  :(
