Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Electic helicopter for newbie

    Hi,
I have a little experience of R/C flying (I own a slow flying electric SkySurfer) and was thinking of getting an electric helicopter, specifically the DragonFly 35A. I was drawn to this model as it comes with a high power battery (Li-Po 11.1V 2200mAh) giving 25 minutes flying time - I really don't want something that has to be recharged after just 10 minutes. It doesn't come with a simulator cable though. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with this particular model - is the learning curve very steep etc.? Am I mad to risk flying without trying out a simulator first? Thanks...

You have to use ailerons and elevator on the same stick to control a heli.
If your previous plane had elevator control, go for it !

But if the earlier model was throttle adjustment to go up or down, on a different stick from left/right, the heli will be a handfull.
In this case consider getting used to a "full-house" plane before the heli ?

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info coolwings. My Skysurfer has the latter type of controller you describe, i.e. up/down throttle and left/right on another stick. I have flown helicopters in Flight Simulator 2002, but I don't think that counts :p
I'm reluctant to go down the plane route as I would prefer to fly around my house than travel to an open field. In preparation I must start practising rubbing my stomach and patting my head at the same time :D

Don't worry too much ... these tiny helis tend to bounce when they hit a wall, rather than break. (Tend to .. not always )
Lots of modellers have gone straight onto this sort of heli. The parts aren't too dear when they do break. I suggest you find one where the parts are available nearby to where you live. When U want em U really want em.
