Dunnes and Penneys in the UK

I know there are Dunnes branches and Primark stores in the UK. But those anyone know how common Dunnes is and if Primark sell much of the Atmosphere range from Penneys.

I've never been in a UK Dunnes, but I've been in a couple of Primarks in the past and they don't seem to do much of the nicer stuff that Penney's have.

I'm moving to the UK in a few weeks and am thinking I could break my friend's mum's "never buy patterns at Penneys" rule. If I buy any nice stuff I see here am I less likely to see 15 other people in the exact same outfit everytime I leave the house?

(Although I did notice last year that quite a bit of the clothing in Dunnes - Savida range was the same as stuff I'd seen on Portobello Market a month before).

Penney's is just called Primark over here. It's the exact same stuff as you get in Ireland. It's seen as trash over here and I kinda have to agree. Nothing lasts more than one wash. Sometimes they have cute knickers though.

I never knew Dunne's operated here. The one in Tamworth is easy enough to get to for me. Yay! I can go buy new socks!

I have been to the one in malaga, same stock as the ones here in cork but wasa bit weird, and even the uk ones are the same, the one near my home town in the UK is a photocopy of all the others bar the offers that are on that week.

  • I don't think Primark is the same as Penneys. I know its the same company but the stock seems completely different to me. All the stuff in Primark looks really cheap and tacky, some of the stuff in Penneys is pretty nice.

That's what I always thought. They seem to do different ranges. I've not seen the Atmosphere range in a Primark ever. The stores always look really nasty and cheap. Penney's looks much nicer and has some really pretty stuff sometimes. The one on Dublin's O'Connell St always seems to have groups of excited English girls in it, excited about the cheap stuff they are finding too.

I just hate the fact that anything striking that you buy there will be bought by several 100/1000 other people and you will invariably meet them all. I have a friend from the US who always hits Penneys when she visits. She says it's cheaper than the cheap clothes at home and some of it is much nicer. And whenever she gets compliments and queries about where she got her clothes she tells them; "oh, I was shopping in Europe!"

Thanks for the Dunnes list Bri, none anywhere near where I will be. I can shop with immunity!

I don't know... I've only seen horrible stuff in the Galway one. And the sizes are massive!

Primark trading as Penneys in the Republic of Ireland. Same things. There's a huge one on New Street in Birmingham which is bigger than the Dublin ones. It's the same stuff. You'll get more or less, depending on the size of the specific shop. They're all the same ill fitting things.

I disagree - the stuff in Primark is utter shíte - whilst some of the stuff in Penney's is quite nice. I wouldnt be surprised to see that there was some cross over I would expect there to be distinct Irish and Uk product lines.
