library annoyances

seen as its exams time n all, i thought id have a rant about what bugs me when i m trying to study.

1-people who turn their phone on silent but still have a vibration equivalent to a jolt on the san andrea fault line.

2-people who text in the library, its still noisey.

3-those squeezy bottles designed for use during some activity other than siting down! do people think they are more athlethic when they drink from these?

4-people with noisey noses, yes you know the people who's nose is like a whistle!

Biggest prob i had in ucc/college of comm was the women in there!! UNREAL!! how are ya supposed to study when ya got that in front of ya??? AH SIMPLER TIMES...............

In my schools lib your aloud to "talk quietly" on the ground floor but still get people staring at you like you just farted in the middle of the quiet part of an operah if your phobe does the whole vibrating thing.

thats nothing, and not really amazingly annoying, just today i was in the 3rd floor and along came three lads talking loudly and then to my amazement they proceeded to sit down and crack open can's of tennants, absolutely scandalous

I hate when there's other people from your class there, and they have a stack of notes 2-3 times the size of yours...
Or when you've got a load of chattering commerce girls around. DIE!!

They introduced a €5 fine for people in my library who have their mobiles on (dit kevin st/aungier st) so mobiles are never a problem really.. tbh nothing really annoys me in the library.. except waiting for a pc

Libraries can be interesting places. In 6th year we used the public library for after school study. Of course half the year thought it was a place to flirt... the pretty girls and jocks would spend most of their time flirting and no-one seemed to do any work, everyone including me stopped every 10 mins or so to have a chat. But there were some weird people there....

For instance, there was one man who would sit at a table with a pile of books and not leave until he read them all. He'd even put up a cardboard stand in front of him for privacy. One day there were noisy people standing outside in the corridor of the library so he got up to close the door and slammed it violently and the whole library jumped out of their chairs.

Another time, this girl went over to the dictionaries and was looking through one when she burst out laughing. I assume she was looking at a rude word.

And then these little skanger kids came in shouting "sex" and sat beside people asking them if they had good sex.

I had people who would sit near me in the library when I was doing my finals, cause they knew if anyone talked anywhere near me they would be told to shut up! it was almost like some of them looked out for me and whereever I sat, they weren't far away!

Clicking pens, the turnstyle in CIT's library used to drive me nuts, people talking out loud like they were in the canteen or something, booking seats by putting all their books on the table then leaving for 2-5 hours (I saw it happen!) people who sat near me who obviously hadn't showered recently, people eating smelly sandwiches, crisps or anything else that rattled, people who started messing and then got the giggles...

emm, I'm sure I can think of more library annoyances, but they're the ones I remember from my college days! - ahh the memories!

ha, so true - Personally i think the library is grand, but if on average everyone is loud for 1 minute an hour and there are 240 people in the section then 4 people are loud at anyone time, thats when it becomes a problem.
(you won't believe how much maths that took me!)
Commerce people are definitely a pain, why do they go to the library there doing a bloody mickey mouse degree its all buzz words and price-quantity curves to me.
BTW if anyone wants a good photocopy room go to room 303 (3rd floor near all the desks), the code is 3022 and its staff photocopier that is never used, but you still gotta pay

The staff there are absoloute ****, particularly the people who are in charge of allocating the computers. Rudest tossers Ive ever met, especially the long haired guy. Some tosser(interrupting the guy mid sentence) "Nooooo" Ya know one of those long drawn out nos when yiv been asked the same question too often. Sure enough it can be annoying, but if you cant handle it dont work somewhere whjere ya have to deal with the public you twat
