Please please someone help me, I discovered this morning that my ac adapter wire had snapped at the end. I have a Satellite Toshiba A30-921, I proceeded to ring Toshiba this morning. They informed me that because I am still under warranty I get a new a power adapter, but there is a catch. They have to get DHL to retrieve from my house and have it delivered to Toshiba in the U.K. It'll be monday before they will collect and then it could take up to two weeks to get it back. Heres my dilemma I need it for college and so I cant part with so I was hoping to pick an adapter but the cost is very high, it'll cost me 110 euro to ship it in from England. Does anyone know where I could possibly pick one up on the cheap, if anyone knows where I could get one in Ireland .

    Regards

    Willem D

Ps: It seems really screwed up that I have to send it back to the manufacturer just to get a new Power adapter.

Maplins are doing a universal one with different voltages from about 15v to 20v and if im right your one is a 19v ....They have a sale on them at the moment they where 60 or 69 euro...you might get them for about 40 maybe 50 euro which is a lot cheaper than pcworld's 150 for a simular one ...hope this helps

Well tbh if its just to tie you over for a couple of weeks , it should'nt be to bad or do to much damage to the battery ...but dont quote me on that , if your going to use your laptop a couple a times a week for the next 2 weeks till you get yours back it should be fine ..it does state the different models and makers that it supports on the box you could have a look first and then see it your ok

or if you would,nt feel safe with it here,s a cheap one in the uk
    http://www.interbatteries.co.uk/index.php/cPath/290_295
    or go buy irish

ps here is the maplins page ...the one i bought a while ago was called sunpower..http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?MenuNo=1278&MenuName=Notebook+Adaptors&FromMenu=y&doy=5m5

Give Mark Carroll in BMS . They are an authorised Tosh repair centre and can handle warranty repairs.

Should be a lot quicker than sending it to the UK

What you ant to do is look on the back of the laptop. It'll give you the required voltage and current. Normally 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 Volts and anything between 2 and 6 Amps depending on the power of the processor etc.

Once you get that info, go into maplin or wherever and find one to match. From previously working in maplin I know there is a laptop psu that gives a 6 amp max output. That means it'll supply as much as needed up to 6 amps before the psu will melt. The main point is 'As much as needed', if your laptop needs 3.85A then thats all it'll get.

Oh yeah bring in your laptop to make sure the connection fits!! had plenty of customers who forgot to bring in the laptop.

    best of luck with it.
