My friend and I are going interrailing around eastern europe for 3 weeks in July, August. Flying into Trieste and out of Dubrovnik. Going through Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Albania and maybe Serbia and Montenegro. Basically as many places as we can fit in and then a few days relaxing on the beach before we go home.
Trying to find accommodation in some places is a bit tricky but i'm sure there'll be plenty of places once we're over there. Might bring a tent just in case, though

Some nice places but some quick advice:

Albania - are you sure the pass is valid here? Also, as of 4 - 5 years it was still pretty dodgy! Make sure you check security situation before visiting!

Serbia - meant to be nice, but make sure you don't need a visa......actually just checked - you don't anymore!

    That all sounds too class.
Myself and my bestest bud are off to Greece to work for the Summer. But in August, we think we're going to get a ferry from Greece, over to Italy and back over to Dubrovnik and make our way up to Prague.
There doesn't seem to be a railway to Dubrovnik, I think you have to get a bus to the nearest train station.
I would recommend a couple of days there, it's a sight to behold, such a lovely place!

I did it two years in a row and I'd definitly recommend it, especially Montengro. Anywhere off the beaten track is the best option, but only if your with a couple of people so you know you'll be safe.
Cant think of the name of the city in montengro, it was more of tiny little village hugging the ocast, but its one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places I've ever seen.
A tent is a great thing to have with you cos you can be a lot more flexible if the place you've arranged to stay suddenly looks dodgy (terrible experience with an incredibly sleazy character in Bratislavia, unreal) and never be afraid to haggle over prices, most of them love it.

Nostalgia is starting to kick in now :)
