Going away on holiday soon and want to get a half decent digital camera. The one I have now is terrible. Would I get a half decent one for around 150-200 euro ? Could yea point me in the right direction ? I know nothing on the subject.

for the price it would have to include a decent sized memory stick. Am I asking too much for my small budget?

I think so. But i suppose it depends on your definition of half decent camera.

Could you reccomend A camera then. Forget the 'half decent'

for such a small budget you should go for one with the best battery life and maybe just get an older model thats a lot cheaper than the newer higher megapixel models

i don't know enough about cheap cameras to advise you but i know from experience that most cameras by Canon & Nikon are going to have a certain level of quality about them.

Best advice is to go into a camera shop and try out as many cameras as they have in your price range and ask about battery life and included memory cards

For €200 you could get a really brilliant film camera though

I have this one and I would recommend same. My view on electrical or computer gear is buy the best or near best as technology will no doubt forge ahead. You can also use as a digital camcorder depending on memory. Have a look at this video from Liverpool - Chelsea match.

Its about 5 pound cheaper from pixmania. Would 256 mb card be ok or should I try for a 512 ? Also should I bothering ordering a bag and rechargeable batteries with it too ?

tusky I'd suggest you spend a day or two reading the reviews at www.dpreview.com and www.dcresource.com . Both of these sites provide very indept reviews on pretty much every camera model out there. Also lots of good information on what all the jargon means and good advice on what you should look for depending on your personal needs. Also both of these sites have very active forums for each brand of camera. Can be worth a look to see if everyone in general how people feel about a brand.

I think 256 will be alright for piccies but get as much as you can afford it wont go to waste. Batteries and bag are always good!

    try here too http://www.nomatica.ie
