I've never actually heard Bonnie Prince Billy so I must rectify that if what everyone says is true (that he's very good)

Bonnie Prince Billy - "I See a Darkness" I would rcommend.

He was known as the Palace Brothers, Palace and Palace SOngs before this incarnation. I think "Hope", "Arrow Through the Bitch EP" and "Palace SOngs" are preferable purchases... well at least as noteworthy.

Bonnie " Prince " Billy & Matt Sweeney - SUPERWOLF

That album is also rather good.

    Palace Brothers

    or the Lost Blues comps

..and then you'll quickly find yourself emersed in the world of will oldham...its very hard to get out of too..
    i like Will Oldham-joya
    and palace music-viva last blues..

ease down the road is slightly more country than rest. very slightly. if this is your bag..check out Greatest Palace Music

    indeed
there's Will Oldham's Black/Rich Music, Joya as you say, Marquis de Tren and Rian Murphy collaborations, Bonny Billy's More Revery etc

ever see the movie Matewan in which Will Oldham stars?

oohh..havnt actually!where might one obtain such a film??
there was a boxset compilation released in the states recently too with a loada people covering his tracks..some of its great..but it was recorded before greatest palace music and released after so a lot of tracks are countrified versions, a la GPM..
no-ones mentioned guarapero yet..or indeed master & everyone..
just him and a guitar and a loada mics in a room..very nice..
anyone see him in vicar streeet 2/3years ago with the amononoan??
one of the best ive been too..
he rocked the hell outta master & everyone..
also, check out songs of ohia or Papa M for more oldham-esque stuff..

Finally got a Bonnie "Prince" Billy album. I got the one with Matt Sweeney, Superwolf. I must say it's excellent. Not as country sounding as I was expecting. Love the sleeve too.
