Why don't you just play the bass yourself for the demo? You can survive without a bassist, believe it or not!

ah but its not the same, we want the demo to be just the way we are, we wanna have it as real as possible, half the band can play bass, but we're not the bassist therefor, we don't record the bassists parts, its ok, i got slightly pissed off earlier, but i have a few contacts now, i'll ring 'em in the mornin, and how can we survive a gig without a bassist? it'd sound terrible!!! treble to the last, eeeuughhh!

EQ. That's all you need. Get your eq sorted and you can survive without a bassist. You do not need a bassist for a demo. Just layer it on top of whatever you record.

But im in Dublin :) trust me, from experience, you call it your dream, but once you get the other side of a record deal, it wont seem like a dream for much longer. Its demand after demand by managers record company types ect. and alot of bloody hard work....And touring, which is bloody fun!! It is tough though, especially if you get dropped.

i'm not bothered about a record deal any time soon, we wanna play gigs around ireland, and i have the contacts to do that, all we need is a bassist, and feylya, ur not listenin, of course we could record a demo without a bassist, but we dont want to, we want it to be as natural as possible, as it would be wen we play live, just a more definitive, clean sound obviously, but u know what i mean.

Yea, i understand you. Its much better when you can have your stage sound pretty much the same as your recoeded sound. In the band i was in, we tried our hardest to do that. Forget all the hundreds of effects ect you can put on your songs because people will end up disappointed when they dont hear that live. Bit of advice though, if you doget a contract, dont think for a second that you dont need to try as hard anymore. Thats the mistake we made and it all fell apart. Listen to your management and company because they have done this many times and know what theyre talkin about.

oh don't worry, we're a hard workin' band! we are all carefully chosen members, thats why this bassist thing is so hard for us, we can't find a bassist thats willin' to put in the effort and time that we are, i mean, we've now spent about half a year gettin' about 10 songs down tight as **** so we won't let anyone down, we're a rockin' band and we're in it for the music, you never know though to be honest, we might get a deal, but we're not stupid, we're not gonna take the first offer, we're gonna look into our legel rights first and wait for a deal that suits us, not some random company, fuk that like, ah but we wanna concentrate on gettin' even better for a good few years, i've been playin guitar for seven years and the lead guitarist went over to london and did a few years in the guitar institute, the drummer is a natural, he's unbelievable, the day he got the double kick bass drum pedal he mastered it, the same fukin day! we just need a bassist that has the same ability as we do and the same attitude towards it all, it's gettin' frustratin' but patience pays off, i'd honestly say within' a year or two you will hav heard of us, i'm not tryin to sound big headed or full of myself now (although, nothin wrong with a positive attitude) but i'd say you will, we're gettin' there anyway, slowly but surely....

Hehe, we actually spent 1 and a half years on one of our songs. Was worth it in the end though, turned out to be a really good song. We actually had a choice of a few record companies and didnt necceserily choose the wrong one, but just expected it to be too easy. We still practiced and everything but never got THAT single. I suppose a smaller company would not have put so much emphasis on a hit single but a smaller company couldnt support us as much either. Still, it was a great experience but motivation to start again is slightly lacking. Maybe someday i will join another band but i dont think it will be soon. Tightness is what it is all about. 90% of Irish bands are really good musicians with good songs but tightness lets them down. We spent hours with just me and our drummer playing to get the rythmn section tight as possible, then add 1 guitar, then another and then full band on every song. Really helps get everything together.
