    Folks,

    Has anybody bought anything from this site. I did a trawl of the web for both names and cann't find much about them.

    search through dpreview.com and this forum and you'll find a lot of negative stuff and a few positives.

    they went out of business a while back meaning lots of people were out of pocket then they just started up again as a new company but never refunded the people who lost out

    something very dodgy going on and they're german based, nothing to do with NYC

    No way - dont do it. ny camera are a bunch of cowboys. I had an order in with them when they went bust and had a hell time getting it all cancelled in the end. Ended up telling AIB to block and visa transactions coming from Germany.

    In case you missed it.... DONT DO IT

    Cheers folks - I'm giving them a wide berth.

    Since I posted the above I got a mail requesting a photocopy of my passport & credit card. 1st time I've ever come across that on the web. I've cancelled my credit card to be on the safe side - bit of a pain but better than getting stung for the cost of a Canon EOS 350D.

    rymus - on technikdirekt.de, how does their delivery work - when I get to the delivery step they have the following

    "* Our insured pick up service
    We authorize DZR GmbH & Co. KG in your name with the pick up and delivery of your ordered goods. The shown costs are totel delivery costs!"

    When I check out DZR GmbH on the web it comes back as a Zepplin company - odd mode of delivery. I presume they are ok??

    They state that due to the fact that the shipping via a third party. Shipping is usually within three days of dispatch. Ya, their shipping is good.

    Compare cost with www.computeruniverse.net which is usually cheaper. I've used both for different products and found both very good. Cameras are usually cheaper at computer universe.

    lots of US and German companies still request this including very good companies. Seems crazy that they still ask but I've done it without any problems before
