Irvine to Jordan?

    Lauda looking into decision to offload Irvine



    Ford's PPD chief Niki Lauda has confirmed that he intends to investigate speculation that Jaguar boss Bobby Rahal
    offered to sell Eddie Irvine to Jordan after they sacked Heinz-Harald Frentzen three weeks ago. It is believed that
    the offer was not taken seriously because Lauda refused to sanction it, hinting at continuing differences in
    management technique between the two bosses.

    Jordan sources are thought to have revealed that the Ulsterman was offered as a potential replacement for
    Frentzen, and Irvine's manager Enrico Zanarini has spoken of his belief that the deal was proposed. The Italian was
    not willing to comment any further until the details surrounding Jaguar's offer to Jordan were uncovered.

    Lauda also spoke of his satisfaction with the performances of both drivers, and stated once again that he was happy
    to continue working with Irvine and Pedro de la Rosa next season.
