I have recently changed the spelling on my surname, which means one "s" instead of "ss" before. I have booked my trip already with the new spelling but have no passport yet with the new spelling. I'm not Irish citizen, so I have to get a passport from my embassy, and I'm going out on the trip already 25th of May. The processing time of passport takes 4-6 weeks...

Is there any Travel Document or similar I can get that I can show together with the passport?

You should phone the airline but afair when I went to a couple of European countries I only needed photo ID, not specifically a passport. Where you going?

Sweden, and am Swedish citizen. Our national ID is not valid abroad as photo ID.

Have you asked the airline if your ID is valid?

Yes, it's not valid according to their rules on the web site.

    Bummer, got a drivers license?

Otherwise can you ask your embassy to speed up the passport giving your circumstances?

Just to avoid confusion for the OP you DO need a passport to travel between Ireland and other European countries (except UK).

Ireland and the UK are not part of the Schengen free-travel zone.

If the problem is simply an extra 's' and you have the original passport then I would attempt to get the ticket changed to reflect the passport name as this would be quicker for this trip.

Have you tried contacting the airline and said you made a spelling mistake, and there should be two s's? Normally, they'll change a spelling mistake for free (when it's like one letter etc).
