    Folks,

Can anybody recommend a decent hotel within a 2hour drive of Dublin - Anniversary coming up in June so thought I'd book a hotel for the weekend.

    Pref. a "rural" hotel.

Neptune Beach Hotel, Bettystown. Very nice has a jacussi, gym, pool, etc. The food is of very good standard. Bettystown itself is a bit of a kip.

Ballykealy House, just outside Carlow. Small, old world, and fantastic food in the restaurant - doesn't have gym/leisure centre etc. I recommend highly ;)

    Try this website for ideas.

    http://www.irelands-blue-book.ie/

Has links and info on highly rated hotels, restaurants and guesthouses all over the country. Expensive stuff though.

I'd second Brook Lodge in Co. Wickla, in fact I'm going to book myself and herself in for the anniversary ... thanks for reminding me.
