DVD burn keeps failing...

hello all (hope this is the right forum for this)

i have a DVD writer its a 16X Digital Max DVD +-R / -+RW drive
when ever i try to burn a DVD its failing everytime..
i can burn CD's no problem, but fails on dvd's im using PC line DVD-R disks
i will attach the error report it gives me..

Any ideas lads?

I have had a similar problem with CDs. In my case it is down to the stone age machine I still have. I can't do anything else on it at the same time. Once I leave it be it works fine.

its probably the media , never heard of pc line blank media , 9 out of 10 times when u get a bad burn its the media , what burner are you using ? if you want good burns the best media is verbatim and taiyo yuden .

i had this problem some time ago. made quite a few coasters. i upgaded the firmware and bobs your uncle. be careful when doing this as you have to have the exact firmware or you`ll f*ck up your drive.

i just updated the firmware from release 2 to 3..
so im gonna try another burn.. fingers crossed

no joy burn failed again i tryed dvdshrink and nero.. both failed..

any ideas? is there any chance of a bad batch of disks?

ive had pc line CD-R's i got in pc world bout a year back, i had about 10-12 failed burns out of 25, havent touched that brand since

I got a 50 spindle. Pure and utter ****e. Half the discs (more or less) had a scratch on the very outer rim, about 2 cm's long. This meant you could only burn up to about 570megs out of 700 onto them, otherwise i ran the risk of the whole burn failing.

Buy proper discs from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk I recommend the printable DVD+R's from datawrite (code {DV 3185}), assuming you want printables.

But as with all discs, if you're unsure about their quality, check their mediacode, and then google it to see what they're like. cdrfreaks has a lot of info about the various mediacodes iirc.

Thanks a million lads... im gonna give the disks to a mate of mine that has burned dvd's sucsessfully before and see if they act the same on his pc..if so i'll try different disks.
