I did 5 years of guitar lessons and managed to learn **** all theory. I had 3 or 4 different teachers and they were all crap. A while back i decided to teach my self theory as before that i was just playing by ear (quite well) but the theory is obviously very important. I found all my tech bar one to be very lazy, in fact one of my teachers couldn't play the guitar and this was in a reputable music school. The last teacher i had was good, that was in waltons but really you should tell the teacher what you want to learn every week or else you will get no where because guitar teachers (i have found) are to lazy and tend not to live up to expectations. I had a guitar teacher who never came to class prepared, and make sure you get your full time that you paid for, some teachers are **** heads. Try Waltins though they are very professional, and not the Parnell schol of music which is a joke.

It's the Hollywood Academy these days. Which kind of adds to the humour. :)

Yeah, I've got lessons from Tom for the past year or so, and once I get my finals out of the way I'll start them up again. They are well worth it, really helped my playing a lot. The lessons are one to one and reasonably priced, give Tom a call and he'll give you all the details.
