Ireland Vs. Croatia... on Wednesday evening. How do you reckon we'll fare?

Robbie Keane's back on form at the moment, - and Roy Keane's on crackin' form as per usual...

I say we'll win, but barely...

    1-0 to Ireland.

Robbie would need to lose some weight and have really worked on his fitness. I was @ the Portugal match in June and himself & Quinn were fairly ineffective- Damien Duff if I recall was the only real threat when he came on.
Regards the Mighty Quinn- I think he's nearing the end- but I think I remember saying that in about 1994!! I hope he plays, scores and gets the record... meaning Mick doesn;t feel obliged to pick him after that.
In saying that though whos he goin to bring in??

    My Prediction:
"Fortress Lanner" swings the balance in Irelands Favour 1-0

    Ireland to win 2-1.

Great to hear Robie Keane is rearing to go again.
But there's been a few players withdrawing form the squad.

Hope Robbie Keane withdraws too. Useless pudgy git.

Bring in some of the U21's. Might make the game at least half interesting, even if it does mean we lose 7-0 :]

Otherwise: Yet another boring 0-0/1-1 draw.

We won't lose 7-0 to Croatia.

We are only in danger of doing that against ****e teams who don't attack us.

Ireland will take this game by the balls and beat the shhit out of croatia. We done it before, we'll do it again.
3-1 to Ireland this will be a warm up for the holland game.

Wow, you're all very confident we're going to win.

Anyone heading to the game? I am myself, though I'm worried it's gonna be a pretty crap game smile.gif

Was gonna ... procrastinated and wasted too much time and am going to miss it now... blasht

anyway - I'd be pretty confident of a win this evening. Croatia are nowhere near what they were when they came 3rd in the last World Cup...

I'm going to go for a neutral's realism here- 1-1 the final score. Croatia will probably play tight, as befits a quality team in bad form trying to preserve its reputation. Ireland are capable of winning it, as are Croatia- but do either side really want the points enough? Probably not enough to risk losing the match. Even predicting a score draw is probably being a bit too hopeful.

Then again, I'm still hoping that old-boy Gooner Quinny knocks in a hat-trick, smashes the Irish scoring record, and not all headers either (I can hope, can't I? biggrin.gif)

    Hehe...

Bloody ref. Still can't complain too much, my uncle had a tenner at 5-1 on a 2-2 draw, so he was buying a couple of pints afterward... smile.gif

Was in the south terrace, wow - what a beautiful evening, gorgeous. I pity all those muppets in the East Upper, all the got was the setting sun in their eyes :/

Can anyone tell us what the peno was for? It was the far end of the pitch and didn't see the replay on telly. Was it a good descison? tbh I think a ref who gives a peno for accidental handball (thats what we heard) 2 mins into injury time in a friendly is a bit of a muppet.

apparently (I didn't see that bit), the peno was a badly decided one, awarded for an accidental handball - something which the Croats could have equally been penalised for earlier in the game.

Fine performance from Ireland, I thought.

    'Er accidental handball?
More like accidental volleyball. The guy led with his arm ffs!

Look I'm as Irish as the next guy, but if it had been at the other end, and we didn't get it, I'd be stalking that ref for a few years.

That stuff’s loaded with nutrients. I …I can't compete with that stuff."

Well considering Alan Kelly rugby tackled a Croatian in the box earlier I think we got away lightly :P
