The processor heats up to much to put in a laptop also it uses quite alot of power which will reduce your battery life.

Look at the cooling system in a Power Mac, it's been reduced enough to fit in the Imac but still has a long way to go to fit into a laptop.

Rumors suggest that the next revamp of the Power Books will be to HD displays, but not to G5 processors.

Anyway.. Power Book G5s seem to still be a long way off.

i think its more likely we'll see dual core G4's than G5's in the near future.

Cheers thanks, looks like ill be heading for the new 20" G5 iMac instead .

It looks neat, fast, comes with tiger and most of all saves space in those places where its most valuable. Prob get the ram upgrade to 1Gig too. All for less then 1800 <- me loves being a student ;)

I had read in one of the Mac user mags that there is an 2Ghtz G 4 chip being developed especially to run for Powerbook and iBook, so that tells you how far away G5 portable is. :(
