    Dx 9.b sounds odd

interesting specs for Vid card n ram, highest minimum i've seen afaik

DX9 card a min spec . So that means my Gforce 4 TI4600 cant run it. I dont like the idea of being forced to change card just play a new game.

GF4 's are ancient now, it would be silly for game devlopers to try be so backwards compatable with a high end game... it just doesn't make economic sence.....(so much more extra coding to do stuff diff on the old cards so they work...)

Your gf4 ti4600 will work fine with the game. The card just needs to be directX 9 compatible. All of the non-mx geforce 4, 5 and 6 cards are DirectX 9 compatible.

On the minimum requirements, Planetside is two years old now and that needs a gig of ram to play properly. There's nothing exceptional there, really.

Er not by all the BF2 sites, PS version is too low, requires 1.4 or something that none of the cards in the gf4 series have.....

hmm i have those exact specs
    -pentium mobile 1.7
    -512mb ram
    -x300 128mb

so does that mean it will run on my system acceptably or does it mean it will run on my system but ony really poorly?

Tbh dont be expecting a major leap in graphics, Dice have issues making games playable so bump up the specs to cover their shoddy coding.

The game will have sound issues and CTDs and numerous other bugs.
I would wait to upgrade and save, if you can play Doom 3 at any p[layable settings you should be fine.

I don't think thats quite fair, i don't see any other games with maps that large, its bound to require more ram/gfx memory as a result. And being less explored area of games prone to hickup's.......

Its a 3d bump mapped level, its nothing special.

When Bf42 came out most people met the specs, game was nearly unplayable for most (Lol lucutus not being able to play is the reason this board was created) After 4 upgrades the orignal still wont "just" play on my pc without i having to do somfin to make it work.

Google Battlfield 1942 CTD and Battlefield vietnam CTD :D

They are renowned for shoddy coding and the games are not in anyway a technical leap in anything, i mean its already gone from 100 players to 64 and 2004 release to 2005.

1942 has 11 patches , BFV needs that many :D

Look at Doom3 one patch, HL2 3 actual game patches the rest enhancements.

I can see at least 300" HELP BF2 wont run" help posts coming, trust me ;)

i fear the ugly one maybe right, it could be months till bf2 is playable for the majority of us if not longer.

I love the BF series but i would have to agree with you there.
That was one of the things i was looking forward to in BF2, even more peolple to kill!
But would many net connections would have been able to handle that sort
of traffic including VOIP and still keep the pings low?

I wont mention BFV smile.gif, wont help my protest.

Eh BF1942 was released over 2 years ago of course there are going
    to be more patches.

And if they had delayed the launch for as long as HL2 was delayed
many more of the bugs would have been fixed

What do you mean here? There will be problems with certin hardware
in terms of producing quality sound?
Are they using EAX 3 or is it EAX 4?

There wont be any more patches for Doom 3 only maps n stuff, Hl2 works on most pcs one bug the stutter fixed fairly soon after release.

Doesnt matter what sound they use, i can gaurantee there will be issues with more onboard sound cards and stuttering cos of it :)

But are you going to play the game and like it? :)

Aren't all these problems worth it for all the fun you
will have running/driving/flying around all the maps
    blowing up stuff?

I'm still playing 1942 and DC every night with the flamates
    online. :D

hmmm...a long as Starforce isn't the dvd protection I'll be happy.

else it would put me off buying the game cos I wouldn't be able to play it :(
