    Re: Ireland -v- Croatia
    I'll keep this simple.

David Connolly is shite. I said it years ago [friends & family will verify this] and I honestly cannot remember him ever doing anything good for Ireland.

He now got the simpliest chance any striker could get(bar Clinton Morrisons !) to verifiably kill off the game and he cocks it up.

My Concluding Plea to Big Mick is please do not pick him again. Look Elsewhere. He simply does not have it.

Yes he should be taken out into a field and shot for missing that one. I'd also like to see Mark Kennedy dropped as well as he is a complete waste of Oxygen.

The worst player in the Irish squad atm is Gary Breen - he's total $hite. He's guaranteed to give the oppo one solid gold chance to score in every bloody game and should be banned for life. Longer if possible.

He was useless last night, so nothing out of the ordinary there.

I can see that thick mick is trying to give him a chance but maybe he should look elsewhere and wait for Connolly to show some club form with the Dons.

I wonder if David Connolly has some other skills, that we dont know about?

Like perhaps he can suck a golf ball up 8 ft of garden hose?

Rather a phrophetic thread given the performane today*ME THINKS*;)

I actually felt like demading a portion of the price of my ticket back to compensate the pain and suffering of having to sit through another inept performance by Connolly-

Decided aginst it though as I witnessed The Mighty Quinn break the scoring record (now theres a proper striker 4ya;))

If we qualify for the WC and Connolly makes the 25 odd squad, I will be outraged- as somebody pointed out above- surely we msut have some non-nationals who qualify at this stage- ANYONE but Connolly:mad:

    Bleh.

I'd like to see any of YOU lot get 8 goals for your country.

On the law of avergaes I'd reckon anyone w/ 2 legs would have scored 8 goals when analysed in terms of minutes played, shots on goal etc.-

I dont blame Connolly, I blame Mick for continously picking him. I think it has meant Connolly has lost confidence in his own ability by believing he is an international striker- where as if he was simply a club player in the english 1st division he'd be confident in his own ability and play his natural game!

I'd be interested also to see who he has got his goals against and in what context- I mean scoring the the 3rd goal against Cyprus at home in the 75th odd minute must surely not have much of a weighting:)

I've nothing against the guy personally- I almost always feel sympathy for him when I see him play so badly- Its just that hes not of international standard- Plain and Simple!

Connolly has scored five goals already this season for Wimbledon I think he deserved his chanse tonight and he scored. There were far worse players on the pitch than him
    Breen, Staunton, Kennedy, Carsley,

    and 11 Cypriots

give the lad a break He has got more goals for Ireland than most people bar QUINNY.

So enough bitchin' instead congradulate Mick for bringing Ireland through a World Cup Qualifying Group undefeated. The first time an Irish time has done so.

If u must bitch (and some of u do appear to have major issues) (joke)then bitch about the dull dead atmosphere created by the FAI's ticket policy. I was surronded by quiet people who were bored and three women who read th ****ing paper for most of the game. Bitch about the FAI giving tickets to their buddies instead of true fans who have opinions.

Sorry Bloody Drunkard but the 2 worst Irish players on the pitch were Connolly and Kennedy. Breen and Staunton played well, infact some of Stevies passes out of defense were world class. As for Carsley at least he replaced Kennedy who is worse.

I had a quick look around the net to see if there were details on Connollys record for Ireland, ie who he scored against, I couldn't find those details, maybe you can enlighten us. In my distant hazy memories I think the lions share of those goals have been against weak opposition and in non-competitive matches (Non-Euro & Non-WC). I have a link for his club record http://www.soccerassociation.com/cgi-bin/pinfo.cgi?2565 and tbh it makes for grim reading considering this guy is playing for an international team rated 21st in the world http://www.fifa.com/rank/index_E.html. Also compare his record with lets say that of Robbie Keane http://www.soccerassociation.com/cgi-bin/pinfo.cgi?15401 or even Clinton Morrison http://www.soccerassociation.com/cgi-bin/pinfo.cgi?15445 hes got 6 in 9 league games this season so far, so by your logic I reckon he should have started yesterday.

Oh sweet Jaysus- WTF- were you @ the same match as I was??
Both central defenders played well- of course w/ not much of an opposition- but to single them out as having played badly... you are talking out of your ársehole m8;)
And as you say if I must bitch do so on major issues- well in case you didn;t realise in terms of Irish Football- the position of striker is a major issue- and if you were in the section I was in last night you'd have realised. Connolly is not up to standard- Thats not bitchin thats stating fact based on his performances here to fore. As I already said to you directly I have nothing personally against Connolly and dont blame him-

You do make a good point re: tickets - maybe there should have been a reduced price to so as to enable some ppl who couldn't get tickets to some of the more crucial games get in- but perhaps a visit to your local specsavers is needed given your views on who didnt play well *me thinks*

id like to see more of mcphail playin in the centre, we really need someone who can consistently deliver killer through balls ala Liam Brady and Ronnie Whelan

By far worse i meant ability wise. Nobody shined (Except Mighty Quinn) on the night and i think David took a bit too much slack

Ye my bias against Breen and Staunton may have been due to my missing the HONEY MONSTER. and before u point it out yes i know he is just as bad (if not worse) than the others. But damn he's just so loveable.

But Connolly had his best game in ages (sadly his standard dosn't go much higher).

It depends who you judge him against

compared to Cascorino he is a fantastic player

compared to an on-form Robbie Keane he is as good as a shovel on permafrost.

sadly we don't have an on-form Robbie Keane (at least when he's in a green shirt)

So to sum that all up when i saw the game in the Sober light of day yes i agree he is about as good as a blind one legged women

Hmm I wonder what Ennngeeerrland fans will do when we start beating you in Korea/Japan rip the stadium up again.

England would not have survived in our group. They were lucky that they came up against the worst German team in years.

    Ever
I would hazard a guess- England are as they performed on sat. versus the Greeks- not a great side. They have a few big indivduals who perform but most of the good club players fade into insignificance on the int'l stage.

As for seat ripping english fans- I'd like to see them try it w/ the Korean Police. I hear they're quite a nasty bunch-heeheehee;)

oh & BTW I echo Castor Troys sentiment:)
