before christmas there a group had organised to apply for permission to set up a statue of rory gallagher guitar in dub city, petitions were signed etc and things were looking good ...but since jan i hadn heard a thing about it the site linked with all this was never updated....does any body have any info on what happenned

Hi,

Last I heard the statue was going to be put up beside a modern art gallery? Possibly opposite the music centre? Anyway, the gallery opposed the planning application as they thought the statue would become a bit of a shrine - too many people, candles, I dunno what...

Anyway, maybe that's why nothing has happened.

Just to clarify - no proposal to install a 'statue' - just a bronze guitar on the wall under the street sign.

OT - The Diceman should get a better memorial as well!
