And now... following the similarly graphic posters for 'Saw' comes this teaser poster for 'Saw 2', the follow up to Karl Hungus's favourite film of last year.... why do i have the feeling Karl will edit this out with his new found mod privileges? :D

Regarding the status of the film:
    JoBlo.com wrote:
Casting is currently underway for the film, which is scheduled to begin this May under the watchful eye of newcomer Darren Bousman and is set for release this Halloween

Ah I enjoyed 'Saw' though so I'd just put it back in basquille :p Not too sure how I feel about a sequel. They can't repeat the premise of the first but to change it too much will not leave much of a connection to the original. I'll assume it'll focus more on the killer, maybe delving more into their motivation and background. I won't expect too much and may be pleasantly surprised!

The first although I didn't like it was a great concept (poorly executed imo though).
I don't think a sequel is needed, or would work very well.

As much as I didn't like Saw, I think shameless sequels just shouldn't be done. From what I heard, the script was actually for an original film, the producers just tweaked it to fit in the "Saw" character. Hardly bodes well.

    I agree with ye all!

I enjoyed 'Saw'.... let's face it, it was no 'Se7en'! It was a 90 minute long film with decent set-up's for deaths and with poor performances.. except i still think Leigh Whannell didn't do too bad as both an actor and writer. But Cary Elwes and Danny Glover just let the performances down.

A sequel is not needed... apparently, the only one returning from the original is that the actress who plays the receptionist from Becker who played
the woman who escaped the metal contraption on her mouth by digging for a key in a chest cavity!
    in the first film.

It's the same director, I thought?
    Yep, James Wan is directing.

Though if you want to see an absolutely brilliant serial killer film, with some excellent preformances, the I cannot recommend Memories Of Murder highly enough. It's a total masterpeice.

Nope.. a new director. Leigh Whannel and James Wan are just producing Saw 2.

It's being directed by Darren Bousman, who was originally just signed onto write it. He hasn't done much - a couple of music videos!

EDIT: IMDB are a bit outta date on that. Darren Bousman has been hired for a while now to direct it. See numerous sites below:

Wasn't too keen on the original, although I agree that it was a great idea. I'm assuming the sequel will be like the Blair Witch sequel, all budget and effects.
