    i know there is a good chance this has been answered before
    but the search feature on boards does not seem to work right

    for someone who is new to photography what would be a good digital camera to get i dont want to spend more than 200 euro but might be able to stretch to 300 if its really worth it

    for your price and requirments I'd advise on this:
    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/56955/art/canon/digital-ixus-30.html
    from that shop

    and you can read a review of it:

    Hi,
    I have a friend coming home from USA soon and I want to get a digital camera which will be future proof for the foreseeable future. In other words I want to buy a camera with whatever features I would need for everyday use and maybe a little bit better.
    -good zoom
    - good flash
    - fairly easy to use
    - USB/firewire

    Don't mind spending a bit extra.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Q: what is SLR?

    SLR = Single lens reflex

    It is what the pro camera men use. And generally are the most expensive, Ranging from about €400 to well over the price of a car. I myself have used equipment in that price range. A good pro camera would set you back about €1500.
