I was in Tesco in Wilton shopping centre today. Management from the UK was prowling around, seeing how things were run and how everything was displayed. I saw them instructing people and moving things around. They had already made short work of the newspaper stand.

Normally, each newspaper has its own alcove where it’s displayed and stored. Our friends had removed the Irish papers; the Irish Times, Cork (cough) Irish Examiner, etc and pretty much dumped them in an unceremonious heap on the ground. Like they were some free rag local newspaper. The alcoves normally allocated to the Irish papers been given over to the likes of The Express, The Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph and other such rags.

    Not for long.

I got a stack of our papers and replaced them to their rightful position. Really satisfying!

I think it was late August 1939 when Polish newspapers witnessed a sudden rise of German papers in their alcoves.... little did they know.
