Wow your right. that incrementing number is actually my free space.

I still don't see how anyone can use 2 gigs for e-mail.

True. Unless someone's stashing a bunch of video clips in their Email account, 500MB is more than enough.

What if you are a graphics desginer working on high rez images. Each one is 12-50 mb. Wouldn't you need that kind of space ?

Do I need an invite to sign up for gmail? I'm gonna set one up for my sis. I was hoping she could use it to store her high res photos from her digital Canon 20D slr. She's off travelling around the world for the year starting today

    Nature abhors a vacuum: http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idioms/nature-abhors-a-vacuum.html

Besides, because it's a google system it's been mathematically tweaked to perfection. I'm sure the incremental increase in space has something to do with the amount of user data they require in order to keep making money from the adverts.

I do. Pm me. That goes for anyone else who wants one. I haven't seen the gmail invite thread around here in a while.

R3boot: I still have all of mine.

I'd probably use it, but the maximum message size is ten megs.

Whenever gmail comes up in a thread someone asks for an invite and there are about a dozen posts saying 'PM me'. It's not that hard to get a gmail acoout go to something like the GMail spooler which has about 1,000,000 invites up for grabs.

And use something like gmailfs if you want to get over the 10MB limit and use your Gmail as a storage space.

I got 50 invites, so PM email addresses to me, and i'll send em off.

probably a thick question but whats their policy on givin invites?
Is it somethin to do with the amount of email you send or receive or what?
Gmail spooler is the place to be alright.

Had a quick look at that and it seems that google have copped on to that as the whole point of gmail is to display adverts but that is a file system that puts an interface between you and gmail. Does this work for you? My sis could do with this big time as she's just headed travelling for a year with her Canon 20D Digital SLR and could use alot of online storage
