Im buying a new bike, my last one just got stolen (Giant Boulder rs). In my local shop I have just seen a Giant ACIDLINK My last bike was kinda heavy for jumping and trails so Im looking for a lighter jump bike, the one they have in the shop is a 2004 model and its €500 new. the 2005 model is uk£575 on the giant site, so im thinking its a good deal (the models are the same except for teh paint job.) the only thing im worried about is the design, as you can see its kinda wierd. Ill also be using this bike to commute 4 miles every day, so its got to be comfy. will it ride like a normally designed bike? Getting a proper ride on it is kinda hard because the shop is inside a shopping center.

    Any help is great help.

It will ride differently to a normal style mtb. The acid frame is sold as a dirt jump bike, so the cockpit (distance between the saddle and bars) will be more compact. If you are riding more so on flat roads you can put on a longer stem to stretch out a little more.
The frame will 'feel' different. For starters it only comes in 15.5" so you'll be running the seat high on the road. The bike will sprint considerabley better than your boulder did and the smaller frame makes it alot easier to move around on.
As far as jumping and taking it off road this bike will rock.

Well I bought the bike on friday and Im over the moon with it, its very different to the boulder, much smaller and alot more responsive, it seams alot faster when you give it a good crank. the disc brakes are much sharper than I expected, I actually had to dull them down abit so I dont fly over the bars everytime. I raise the seat when Im on the road and its nice, because its a layback seat stem the higher it goes the further back it goes so its feels right. I havnt given it a full off road work out yet, but im looking forward to it!! Basically its the perfect hybrid of a BMX and a MTB.

Excellent choice with the acid...i had the 2004 model and it was fantastic. I loaded magura hs33 hydraulics on it, had it for about two weeks and then it got nicked...i miss it. But it was a fantastic bike due to the geometry, as you say the higher the seat, the further back it went, creating and easier ride foe distance. I've now got a giant reign 3, and it is insane
