    Hi

I'm about to submit my tax return for tax year 2004 - Im a PAYE worker.

If I open a PRSA today and stick in a lump sum, can I claim this back on my 2004 tax return, or do I have to wait until say this time next year before I can include it in a tax return.

    Thanks in advance

I'd be fairly sure you have to wait till next year to claim the relief if you're PAYE.

If you were self employed you could get immediate tax relief by getting your company to pay the PRSA contribution without any deduction of tax.
