I have an IBB net connection in work. I NEED QOS for VOIP and VPN passthrough. Can anyone suggest a good router/firewall that offers QOS. Obviously, not an ADSL router.

I have looked at www.brilliant.com but they seem to have ADSL only

*EDIT * Voip is H.323 not SIP

You could try a Linksys WRT54g router, with alternate firmware which includes QOS support. I couldnt be 100% sure, but i think the latest firmware from Linksys might include QoS support.

I havn't tryed QoS myself, but ask around linksys forums and see who has tried the feature, and if it works well or not.

Have a peek at this post .

Also check out Draytek - particularly the Draytek 2900V or the Draytek 2900VG

Hmm, just looking at the VoIP protocols supported: 2900vg - SIP; 2900v - SIP, MGCP, RTP.
So maybe the onboard VoIP ports won't suit your needs (H.323) but they still have QoS and VPN support.

    hth,
    causal

Thanks for the dig out guys.
I'm currently evaluating the Eicon Shiva 500 VPN gateway.
    Fingers crossed.

    Obligatory mention of IpCop

Download and install your own Linux based firewall - router. It's so easy a 12 year old could do it.

Using linux on an old pc was my first choice but on closer analysis, I heard in a few places that linux is not capable of handling H.323 VoIP, as VoIP uses dynamic ports. On the same lines, Linux firewalls don't allow for stateful packet inspection.

If I'm wrong, let me know and I'll get a cheap pc as soon as possible.
I would prefare a linux / firewall varient that allowed my to use the rest of the pc for other stuff as well. Like the way Smoothwall insists on it being the only thing on the computer. Doesn't appeal to me.

    Requirements
    ==========
    VPN
    VoIP
    Surf & EMail
    DMZ [for the IP phone]
Possible bandwidth monitoring [but if I'm using linus this should be easy.]
