TV Card

    If i got a TV Card for my pc, instead of buying a tele could i still watch cable?
    Like: could i plug the coaxial cable from the wall into my TV card and have it work?

    You should be able to. Does your card have an RF socket? Also you may need to check if your tuner can tune in VHF and UHF signals. Also goggle for software called Media Portal as this will give you PVR functionality.

    No i don't have one yet. Thinking about buying one.

    You need a DVB-C (Cable) card. google technotrend or hauppauge..

    I assume you mean you've got analogue cable á la NTL?

    If so, you need one with a "satellite tuner" on it (for the 41 channels outside of UHF and VHF bands 1 and 3 as are standard on tellies here that some cable chanenels come in on) - though I believe most of 'em have that anyway.

    DVB is for digital satellite/MMDS feeds, I'm pretty sure?

    I have a basic Haullapge(sp?) WinTV card.

    I run NTL Analouge Cable into it no probs, get all stations.
    Also can pick up the 4 terristrial channels with a cheap Antenne.
    Lifesaver:)

    I have a Hauppauge PVR 500 MCE card. I have it connected to NTL analogue. I am running it on XP Pro which took some time to get it working. A PVR 350 or 250 card would be better if your not going to run XP MCE.

    comes with cd and manual. but when i was using it [about 6 months ago] i downloaded updated drivers and software from the net.

    would prefer to have it collected rather than post...

    yeah, cable and local. i got a guy to put a pipe up to my room.
    saturday should be fine. how much we agreed on? €30?
