    I say the other persons name (the callers).

    Probably because that's what's on the screen and I'm confused looking for the answer button...

    I just use "hello"... even when I know who's calling... I like to make them put the effort in and introduce themselves properly... it makes me feel like a big man.

    "Hello", or If I bother looking at hows name is on the screen, I use "Hello [Insert Name]"

    In the best Dundalk/Bogger accent I have "Well" could be followed by persons name.

    Not from dundalk, live there for a while though and have picked up the accent a wee bit. Bogger through and through.

    I give it the old Mel B from 'Bo Selecta'

    How Doooo!!!??

    That's when I know who's calling. If I don't know who's calling it's just a plain old 'Hello?'

    Either "Hello" or "Howya" or I could expand the latter to "Howya, what's the craic?"

    On my mobile I tend to say "Ahoy hoy"

    You know what you don't hear much of these days? People who say their whole phone number as soon as they pick up the phone... my cousins used to do this at their house... I mean how many wrong numbers is that supposed to save you from exactly, and is it really worth the hassle?

    When im in work, its "hello Brian speaking" OR alternatively a bit of " Brian speaking, hello"(with the emphasis on the hello!)

    When im outside work its always "Hallo?" or "hall-oh" :)

    Oh Yeah! I used to do this when I was younger, until my sister started givin out saying something like "Never give out your number to anyone!", but how did they ring us in the first place without knowing our number- thats what I was thinking. sheesh!- i clean forgot about this episode of my life

    I say hello, but what ive noticed is that loads of people I know say "bye by bye bye bye" when they are finishing the phone call, totally different groups of people and both girls and boys....... it must be catching, anyone else notice this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,811 ✭✭✭*Page*

    oh god i have so many different ways

    in work i say
    "hello personnel how may i help you"
    or when i'm at home i have to say the business name
    example
    "hello fargo transport "
    on the weekends at home its just
    "Hey whats up/hows you/or just get them"
    my mobile is all depending too
    bf="hey sweety"
    mate="howz id"
    family="hi whats up"
    unknow="hello who is this?"

    I do that and my family think its hilarious...although its a bit of a problem because some of my friends do it too, so we'd just be on the phone saying

    "bye bye by ba b..b..b..did you say something??"

    "no, i was just saying bye?"

    "oh right ok bye so bye by ba b..b..b...."

    and so the viscious(sp?) circle begins...

    If I know who it is, and I want to annoy them then it's

    "WHAT?", in a really annoyed voice.

    Sometimes I say "You rang?"

    Depends on the caller...

    Friends: "Howiya [insert nickname]?"
    Work: "Eoin Speaking"
    Unknown Caller "Hello"

    Yeah, I have a couple of friends who are in the habit of saying that. Hate it, I have to say. In fact I have to pull the phone away from my ear when they start that shenanigans!

    I just decide dependin on whos calling certain people might get a "whats the craic?" most people will get a "yep" and then if its a job or somethin i put on my game face and go all out with an "Hello".
