I have a compaq armada e500 laptop and Im looking to get a wireless card for it but am totally unsure of which one to get?

Anyone got any recommendations? Will any type of PCMCIA wireless card work in it or are there cards that only work with certain makes of laptop etc?

Also any advice on the fastest and easiest to install one would be great!

    Cheers.

I like linksys gear its fast and easy. The PCMCIA card should be compatible with almost every laptop that has one but my god there is always those few, so check.Go for the G Band ones its better.

Would you consider a USB key? Ive got an M700 at home that this baby in the link below works on with my linksys wrt54g router. I went with USB as once you fill your pcmcia port theres nothing else you can put in there but you can daisy chain the USB ports. And sure enough 2, weeks after I got the key I had a requirement for use of the pcmcia for another app AND be wireless as well.

2 minutes to install. Have had it 4 mnths and not a bother.

clint - i would consider a usb key for sure. question tho: if u had a 802.11g/b usb key and plugged it into a usb 1.1 slot would u still get the faster 54 mbs speed from the g-type adaptor? or does it matter what version of usb u have?

post a guide price if u sellin urs.

i have a d-link dwg-630. Very handy to pick a cheap on up on ebay if your patient.

Very easy to use. Have used in coffe shops, airports , at home etc etc.

If you do use it at home (or out side) make sure you have a good firewall on it to protect your self
