    Hi

I wonder can anyone help or offer there opinion.

I had a 478 pin config 2.8Ghz P4 processor in my mother board. Recently I put in a 3.2Ghz P4 same pin confige and bus speed 800Mhz. Do I need a faster fan (not sure of the fan spec do you need that for you to give an educated opinion?) I have noticed the fan pulsing on and off as it works especially with graphics programs like games or video.

But the fan is not continually churning so wonder how do I know if I have to get a better fan is there a reference site or something?

You can buy new fans and heatsinks off komplett.ie for fairly cheap.
Remember to change the interface material with antec silver 5 compound

video and audio playback and encoding/decoding do put greater load on the processor, so it's only natural it'll spin up a bit. most large motherboard makers now build in some form of over-heat shutdown mechanism in the socket :D a fact which has saved my athlon more than once
if you start having mysterious shutdowns then get worried.
if you'd rather not have to worry about that, post some info about your machine, particularly motherboard maker and model no, heatsink & fan manufacturer if possible. or if you don't have a clue, tell us if its made by dell, compaq or whoever. someone will surely be able to give you more specific feedback
