    Can anyone tell me how much Government makes on Cigarette Taxes each year? Or provide me with any links?

    Urgently need to find out this info?

    It might be in the DoF estimates and returns, no?

    Gallaher or the ciggy lobby should be able to give you numbers for the valuable contribution they make to the exchequer every year.

    At a quick estimate though:

    700,000 smokers, 5 cigarettes each per day, say 25 cents duty per cigarette.

    5 x .25 x 700,000 x 365 = about 320 million euros.

    I'd say it's in that order, somewhere between 200 million and 500 million.
