its a false economy, any cheap printers cost more to run

Agreed. Far more considering the cartridges cost more than most cheap printers.

You always have the option to refill you own ;)

If its only black and white or mostly documents then get a laser... much better value and faster to print etc etc. Then you can get an inkjet for colour and refill your own ink.

    Stay away from lexmark regardless.

I agree regarding Lexmark - i'm dumping mine once the current cartridge is empty - it costs more to buy replacement ink than the printer originally cost.

I was in Eason's recently and saw they are selling some reasonably priced Brother printers - the DCP-110C colour printer/scanner for €109 and the HL-2030 laser printer for €129. Not sure what they're like, I took down the details meaning to read up on em.

Otherwise I think Canon or Epson is the way to go but make sure you check how much replacement ink will cost.

cheaper the printer the more the ink and vica versa!

as said before laser if its only black you need. i got one 3 years ago and still on origional toner, print most days too, well over 5 reams(2500 pages) at the moment

I bought the canon i250 from argos for about - if you can find one they are a cheap and cheerfull printer with great results.

I buy the ink carts here: www.discandink.co.uk

    Free shipping too.

Been using them as suppliers of my ink for various printers for some time.
