We held the trip to tipp last friday night and I would like to tkank all those that came especially the boards crew.
193 people bought tickets for the event totalling €3860, of these 184 actually sat down to play.
There were 145 rebuys = €2900 and
177 topups = €3540.
Total = €10300

St Vincent de Paul got €2570 while € 7730 was given out in cash prizes.
We also gave out poker tables, chip sets etc sponsered by wwww.fullhousepokerchips.com , hats, online credit, teeshirts sponsered by www.paddypowercasino.com.
Please note as we got the prizes for free we ignored their value in calculating the 75/25% split, so these were on top of the 75% cash prizes.
Cash Prizes:
1st Neville Duke- €2300, 2nd Paddy Delaney- €1150, 3rd Timmy Minogue-€600, 4th John Healy- €550, 5th Noel Lynch €460, 6th John Tynan €380, 7th Ted Allen-€340, 8th Rory Phelan-€300, 9th Anthony O’ Flaherty-€250, 10th Michael Wright €250, 11th Robert Byrnes-€190, 12th Michael Lynch- €190, 13th Declan Ahern-€150, 14th Liam O’ Sullivan - €150, 15th Shane O’Sullivan- €135, 16th Martin Seymour -€135, 17th Corey Ryan-€100, 18th Alan Kavanagh - €100.

There are a few people that made the night possible.
AIB Bank, Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank, Roscrea Credit Union. Irish Nationwide Building Society, Canada Life,Bernies Super Value, Eagle Star, Hibernian Insurances, Friends First, www.askaboutmoney.com, www.TheBettingForums.com, www.rpoints.com TiStudio Limerick, wwww.fullhousepokerchips.com, The Kildare Poker club, Grants Hotel, Contie Cunningham, Pat Hartnett, Jane O’Brien, Tom Murphy- boards.ie, poker.ie etc Thanks one and all.If I have forgotten anyone I am sorry.
It is up to others to say how it went from a playing point of view but from our point it was a lot of work but great fun.

Didn't bohsman and Tom play in this? I don't see their names in the prize money....
I hope Tom didn't bubble :)

I pretty much bubbled. 193 sat down and I played tight aggressive until the last 24 and then picked a woeful time to make my first move on a BB who woke up with AQ. I played it astonishingly badly, especially since I had been playing well up until then. I could easily have sat on my stack into the money but in my defence I was knackered, it was 3am and the drunken limerick guy beside me didnt shut up all night. At one stage he threatened to "take me outside" and about 5 minutes later he was "my best friend". Puts Player X in the ha'penny place for driving you mental!

I have to say it was superbly run, despite the drunken poor play of the attendees! The lads committed to running it by IPPTC standards and boy did they follow through. With the hotel at 35 euro a night, and a bar until 5am I will certainly be returning!
That had to be one of the most professionally run games I've seen outside the Fitz. Hats off to you Jem and the lads.

Oscar didnt get any luck all night and eventually went out in the 60's I think. I had to laugh at the way he put it "My Queens ran into 9To, preflop!". It was that kinda game. The final table looked like it had a good quality of play though!

DeV.

We had 7 of a committee + we got help from 3 more. You might ask why on earth would you need so many so I will try to explain what they did.
2 checking in and taking money (reduced to 1 and then closed off)
2 giving out chips and marking off the players that had received their chips (this reduced to 1 later.
6 doing the buybacks 3 teams of 2 (one giving out chips & taking money the other noteing ticket number and giving change, very pressurised job with loads shouting at you at the same time would have more bodies if doing it again).
1 ref.
The two coming from the tickets /chips mover to breaking tables/moving players etc.
Ok we could possibly have gotten away with a 1/2 less and later in the night we didn't need half of them.
There are unexpected prizes that need to be given out depending on the night, you cant know how many full boats you will have, we had 4, likewise we had a royal flush and a straight flush to the 10.
IMHO you have to give prizes for these types of hands and they have to be something decent.
There is a dam lot of work involved before the event that goes unseen.
The tickets/posters etc and also you need to estimate what crowd you will have then see how many chips you can get your hands on. You must work out what values of chips that you will use. You must allow for buybacks/topups/ rebuys, cashing in chips for higher values etc Takes quite a bit of work.
All in all I would only do it again for charity, as it wouldn't be worth it for profit if you were to keep to the IPPTC rules. I would only do it again if the charity provided a committee to do the posters/tickets/food/sponsorship etc and we would do the chips and the night. In fairness while the others were of help and were good on the night it really came down to TAP and myself.

Top Marks to Jem

The easy part is handing over the few bob torwards a fund raiser, the hard part is doing all the organising etc .... I think Jem drew the short straw this time around & hope someone bought him a drink or two afterwards :)

Well done Jem
