Queensland - Whitsunday Islands.

    I would really appreciate any advice on the Whitsunday islands. Planning a 6 night stay in January 2006. Hope to do quiet a bit of diving but were also looking for a family holiday. Totally open to suggestions. would it be better to stay in Cairns/Port Douglas? High on the list is Day Dream Island resort. Should we consider a cruise? Thanks in advance.

    Go & take a cruise for a few nights - there's nothing like it. You can just turn up & check what's available but it might be better to check out the various companies & book a few days/weeks ahead. It's a great spot & a great place to start a voyage.

    Somebody else can fill you in on the diving, but Cairns might be better for that since you can get out to the Barrier Reef from there.

    I operated out of Cairns, which seemed to be the bigger base for diving anyway. I've a friend (learnt to dive with them) who works in one of the Cairns travel agencies. PM me if you want some info ;)
