I'm looking for something to dofor a date for tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. Sit in the pub drinking is out, but if there's anything to look around/walk around that's on tomorrow. Some kind of exhibition maybe. We're both early twenties. Any idea whats on?
I'm considering going to the zoo cos that might be a laugh.

National history museum is closed on Monday afternoon. It's a bit old school on the inside. Cinema......

What ever you do, avoid the Dublin lunchtime feeding-frenzy if you're going for that 'intamate' feeling, although most of the city-centre pubs are deserted during those hours.

I'm thinking of the tour around the guinness storehouse. Can you just walk in or do you have to book tickets. Does anyone know how regular the tour is?

What about one of the Dublin bus tours. They can be great fun, you can get some mad hatters giving the tour and you can hop off at any time. Can't remember how much they cost though.

no need to book... you can stroll around yourself, you dont have to wait for a tour which is probably best... go up there late in the evening (i know last entry is at half5 in the winter.. dont know about these days) and get a good spot in the bar, great place to hang around and watch the city.. really good for a date.

Another good idea. I am runnning down the "do what the tourists do" road. Also thinking of the book of kells, and a simple walk round dun laoghaire pier. Also checked out the dublin tourism website.

You mean the splash tour? Went on that for a school trip once. Eh, don't know if i'd recommend it to the over 12s.

The zoo is a great day out especially when its sunny, but last time I was there with my girlfriend, I spent €100+ !

we didnt spend any more than a tenner after the entry fee, coz were both students, and both completly skint (not coz were tight!), you have to admit, it is a brilliant day out!although the polar bears have been shipped to hungary... :(

Are the polar bears gone? They were the most depressing animals in the world.

National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin is great (and free!). Buses 13, 19, 83 stop outside, 19A about 200 metres away. Great car park - €2.

Buy a guide/map (about €2?) and see it all. Restored glasshouses are a treat (if interested, there is a small exhibition giving details of the restoration at the rear of the Curvilinear). Pond area is very picturesque. Cafeteria is pleasant. Altogether a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon. Allow about 2 hours. Closes at 6pm (4:30 pm in winter).

that's actually a great idea. It's important to go on a weekday. That was ur plan anyway. If it's nice and sunny it will be a real bonus, get to roll around a bit on the grass.

    guinness tour does cost money.
    Bowling is always fun

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 302 ✭✭Grimlock

Bowling is great but it's like go-karting very few girls like it,
for a 2nd date perhaps just ask if she's into either.

Stand-up or improv comedy I find are great, have seen them at halpenny, bankers and international and can highly recommend them.

Ice skating is great but you'll have to wait a couple of months.

How about dinner in a nice restraunt?

Stand-up shows are a great date because laughter is an aphrodisiac ;)

Off topic - the glass models of jellyfish on the top floor are amazing, and the museum has an old world charm missing from most other museums - it's like a museum of a museum.

On topic - how about getting them to decide where to go next ?

If there is one - The OP hasn't told us how he got on! :D

Oh right, sorry, regular old walk around dun laoighre pier in the end. Still planning on the zoo idea though. I found out as well that you can walk around in the Stonecutters (ok, i mean Freemasons) building on molesworth street. They have some kind of display room, and i'm told you can get a tour too. Must do that sometime.
