    Hi,

Just sold my laptop , and am thinking of an xps. I think I remember someone on this forum was waiting on one, was wondering if they are still waiting, and if any one has recieved theirs, whats the verdict?
Theres plenty of reviews out there, but not a lot of emphisis is on build quality, I'm not keen on paying 3k is for a lappy with creaky plastic and dodgy hinges on the screen etc.
I plan to get the 2.1Ghz with as little RAM as pos.(512Mb I think), and buying a gig online off Kingston, there's no way in hell I'm shelling out €600 to dell to upgrade fron 512 to 1Gig.

    Thanks.

    G.

Am getting mine delivered tomorrow morning :) Really cannot wait :)

Mine came in at 1,900 in total after refunds and that was with a 4 year next business day on site warrenty. The original figure was 2,338 but because they kept missing delivery dates and and I kept complaining, customer care offered me a 15% and delivery charge refund. I kept complaing to my sales persons manager who kept missing promised calls backs. This gave me sufficient ammo to complain like heck :)

You are also correct about the RAM. I am in two minds as to how much I will buy, 1gig or 2gigs. Thinking of going the whole hog now for 350 on www.shop4memory.com..

Will post up my first impressions tomorrow..

    Specs:

    2.0Ghz Pentium M
    512mb Ram
    60GB 7,200 RPM HD
    DVD Writer
    6800 Ultra
    1900x1200 Res Truelife screen
    and so on....

    Thanks lads,

jesus thats gre, way to play ball :D
I look forward to a review, but the guy on ebay that bought my yoke is a bit of a scam artist, so I might have to wait a few wks to shift it :(
Tbh, 1 gig of RAM should be more than adiquate, I have a gig of 533Mhz in mine, and it does every thing I throw at it .

Yeah likely gonnna settle with 1gig..

Problem is that the system support Dual Channel so it is best to have two identical sticks..

So buying two 1 gig sticks might make more sense.. Not sure what I will do.
